Client Brief

It’s the holiday season, and the Carter’s family is ready to pick out this years iconic holiday PJs. Especially with a newborn, they prioritize reliablity, value, and vibrant style. Often on the go, they know that Carter’s has the clothes their baby can grow up in. No matter what the day brings, they rest assured that Carter’s will keep their infant cozy.

This Holiday ‘23 Babies sleepwear collection embraces the festive season through the lens of woodland environments. Owls, foxes, and bears, oh my!

Trend

Examining motif/material/color trends, I selected bear + fox characters, fair isle prints + knits, and festive trees to complement the season. Tactile graphic tee details were prevalent in the aspirational sources. With the core colors of red and green being popular for this season, I expanded upon this palette to encompass minty greens and rosy pinks.

Process

Beginning with 5 min. timed sketches, I tested a variety of characters and poses. Sketchbook pages were scanned, imported to Illustrator, and vectorized. From there, characters and elements were arranged into repeat patterns and graphics in Illustrator and Photoshop.
